The Barcelona City Council will develop a new neighborhood in the Prim area, located between the Sant Martí and Sant Andreu districts. The project, part of the Viure Plan 2025-2032, includes the construction of 3,360 homes, 2,089 of which will be public housing, aiming to advance toward a more accessible and balanced urban model. The initiative is expected to house approximately 8,500 residents and will feature extensive public services and facilities.

The development will include 41,000 m² of green areas, a new boulevard, and integration with the future Parc del Camí Comtal, to be built over the railway platforms of La Sagrera. Additionally, the area will be equipped with educational, healthcare, sports, and civic facilities, as well as spaces for economic activities.

Key aspects include heritage preservation (such as the Can Riera farmhouse) and a focus on sustainable mobility, prioritizing pedestrians and public transport, facilitated by proximity to the future La Sagrera transport hub.

The timeline outlines final approval of the urban plan in the first quarter of 2026, demolitions starting in 2027, and urbanization works commencing in 2029. The project will be managed in three distinct phases to ensure gradual and efficient execution.

This initiative reinforces the city’s commitment to public housing and the creation of integrated, sustainable urban environments.
